Teachers Rising is building a culture of collaboration between educators where we learn together so our students can learn better.
Our goal is long-lasting meaningful impact on student learning. Just as one size does not fit all students, one size does not fit all teachers, which is why personalised coaching is transformational for teachers in improving student learning, engagement, motivation and behaviour.
Coaching is a personalised process of partnership between teachers and a learning coach who helps the teacher/teams of teachers make the changes they want to make so students become more successful. Instructional coaches work with teachers to identify and set goals, choose powerful learning strategies, and provide support until the goals are met. Coaches work with teachers across all subject areas to improve their instructional practices.
Coaches work with teams of teachers or individual teachers in cycles of coaching (we use The Impact Cycle) that can last from 4–12 weeks.
Coaching helps teachers work deeply on identifiable areas of growth
Coaching is a goals and result oriented process measured using data

We believe in every teacher’s inherent potential to create meaningful learning experiences for students. Therefore, our collaborative model of working with schools is anchored in a strengths-based approach. We partner with teachers to surface their knowledge and grow their skills so they can make the changes they want to see in their classrooms.
We believe in every student’s potential to have positive impact in the world. Experiencing excellent teaching that helps every student explore and expand their capabilities leads to motivated learners. Our work with teachers is always about the students. We help teachers achieve goals that can profoundly impact student learning.
We believe in the power of data to be the bedrock of understanding. Constructive, data-based feedback can transform instruction by providing a concrete picture of reality. It helps teachers set measurable goals. We gather and use data from various sources such as student learning, assessment and classroom observations to provide actionable feedback to teachers.
We use a simple yet effective and highly successful model called The Impact Cycle created by Jim Knight. The impact Cycle is a process designed to help teachers achieve their goals for their students with the support of an instructional coach.
It consists of three stages:
Teacher and coach gain a clear picture of reality by using observation videos, student work, assessment data or a combination of these.
Identify where I am: what is happening in my classroom
Identify where I want to go: set a student-focused goal related to student success/achievement
Identify how I am going to get there: choose a strategy or strategies to support the goal
Teacher learns the identified teaching strategies through modeling and practice.
Learn through modeling by coach
Learn through watching videos
Learn through co-teaching.
Use data to review progress, make changes and plan next actions.
Data gathered through student work
Date gathered through video recordings of class
